Athene Communications hires two new team members

Meet our newest recruits: Clare Burnell & Fay Dempsey.

Clare Burnell joins the team as a Senior PR Account Executive and Faye Dempsey joins us as a Communications Executive. As they begin their career journeys with us, we thought we’d ask them a few Q’s to get to know them a little better…

What is your career background?

Clare: My experience is predominantly in marketing branded food products. Over the years I’ve worked on chocolate bars, ice cream sauces, citrus fruits and even white goods. I love all things marketing – especially watching emerging trends and bringing them to life for brands.

Fay: My background is predominantly customer service based and I have many years of experience in the hospitality sector. I’ve also been involved in managing my family’s travel company.

What drew you to work for Athene Communications?

Clare: The communications side of marketing has always fascinated me. I love bringing products to life using story telling and social media. I’d heard great things about Athene and was keen to get some more agency experience, develop my writing skills and learn about new sectors.

Fay: I was looking for a new challenge to bring my skillset to, and found myself drawn to the company culture that I’d heard about at Athene.

What is your role at Athene and what does that involve?

Clare: I’ll be focusing on our home building, engineering and education clients, so it’s varied (which I love). I’m looking forward to learning more about these sectors (so many acronyms!), but also bringing my own experience to the role.

Fay: I’ll be supporting our Customer Engagement team, liaising with clients and the public on housing consultations and infrastructure projects.

What is your favourite thing about working for the company so far?

Clare: The people! I’m only three weeks in, but I’ve already had some great conversations and met some really interesting and lovely people. I can’t wait to get to know the whole team properly and learn from their wealth of knowledge.

Fay: The diversity of the role is something that I’m really enjoying. Every day there’s something new to work on. The atmosphere in the office is great too!

Tell us something about your home life.

Clare: I live in Stamford (so naturally, I love pubs), I have a severe chocolate habit and my spare time is mostly spent trying to keep on top of a very busy household. I’ve never felt more ‘seen’ than when I watched the BBC comedy series ‘Motherland’…

Fay: I’m a huge animal lover – I have two elderly dogs and a tortoise to look after! I love cooking and I’m a bit of a home-bird, so family time is really important.
