Public consultations for sustainability

A new sustainable neighbourhood for King’s Lynn

Camland Developments Ltd has brought forward development proposals for a sustainable new neighbourhood at Knight’s Hill, near King’s Lynn.Knight's Hill_Logo FINAL-01

The land at Knight’s Hill has been identified as a Key Area for Urban Expansion within the adopted King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council Core Strategy 2011. Camland’s proposed
scheme will deliver up to 650 new homes and includes generous buffer areas around neighbouring Reffley Wood, which contribute to a low density development. The scheme design provides large areas of public open space for recreation, improvements to the local road infrastructure and habitat protection measures. The proposals also respect the area’s significant local heritage assets.

Athene Communications was commissioned to deliver a full stakeholder and public consultation prior to submission of a planning application. As part of this Athene produced a stakeholder and community audit and engagement strategy, which involved early local political, parish and ward engagement to ensure that the significant benefits of the scheme were understood. We then delivered a full consultation, communicating the proposals to key stakeholders and the wider community throughout the application process. This included key messages and branding, stakeholder meetings and liaison, a public exhibition, newsletters, a dedicated website and media briefings.

Turnout at the public exhibition broke Athene’s record, with over 300 people attending on the day.

Camland is carefully considering the local public and political feedback as they prepare for submission.
